With just a few days left until Americans head to the polls for the most talked-about US election since the last one, the words on everybody’s lips: Trump or Clinton… or as some might say the definition of being caught between a rock and a hard place. Interestingly, Trump has come in for some unexpected support in China, many people citing the fact that he carries less ‘baggage’ as a little-known real estate mogul, as opposed to Clinton who has in recent years shown her willingness to stand up to the power of Beijing. I’m not sure I share the view of some Chinese netizens that he’s just a ‘cute big mouth’, though…
Despite endless parody, there’s nothing funny about this vote, so we thought we’d give you the lowdown on the US election Chinese vocabulary so if it all goes to pot we can move to China and moan the evenings away with meat-sticks and Tsingtao beer (maybe it won’t all be so bad after all…):
